Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 pm. The theme of the show is, “It Isn’t Easy Going Green.” Local talent will perform a variety of acts as three judges base decisions on originality, ease of presentation, and closest representation to the theme for cash prizes. All other proceeds will benefit SCA. There is still time to be part of this one-of-a-kind event! Call any of the following producers who will gladly schedule you for a brief and casual audition: Angela Shaver (592-3939), Barb Bohneberg (942-3004), and Mary Irish (592-9456). If you would rather participate as an audience member, be sure to mark your calendar now; this show is a must-see. Remember, SCA thrives on community support!

Concert: April 2, 2011 at 7:30 pm Workshops: 3-4:30 pm The Canal Street String Band members have quickly taken each others’ refrigerators by storm, working tirelessly to put a brand-new shine on some seriously fun old American music. Fiddle tunes….sea shanties….cowboy songs….canal ditties….mountain music….western swing… ..and originals too, with banjo, fiddle, twin mandolins, dobro, string bass, guitar, octave mandolin and three-part harmonies. Stellar musicianship combines with an undeniable sense of adventure and plenty of hokum to produce an irresistably good time. The audience always has a great time as well, in fact, Dave Ruch delighted our audience in a solo performance last year. During this last visit, he enjoyed the crowd and venue so much that he has aligned us with this performance of The Canal Street String Band. We are honored that Dave has encouraged them to film their promotional video at the Arts Center! Tickets for the concert are $10 presale and $12 at the door. The three members of The Canal Street String Band will lead concurrent workshops on Saturday, April 2 from 3:00—4:30 pm before their evening concert. The workshops are participatory and will be geared to the skill levels and interests of those who attend for the nominal [...]
