Springville Center for the Arts’ stage is alive with rehearsals and set construction for the 2011 spring production of Larry Shue’s The Foreigner. This witty and thick plot laugh till it hurts comedy takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia and revolves around a mysterious “foreign” guest, a pathologically shy man named Charlie. The lodge owner and several local residents, not all of which are whom they seem to be, are both enthralled and suspect of this new guest. Charlie came to the lodge for a few days of rest and relaxation, but with everyone’s assumption that he doesn’t understand English, he quickly finds himself at the center of every conversation. As the various plots are played out in front of him, the non-stop hilarity begins as Charlie works to expose the bad guys. Keith Cordaro, Pam Morley and Rick Manzone reunite (“It’s A Wonderful Life”) and join [...]
