Dance Now

Saturdays, February 24 & March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 10-11am

Suggested age: 5 – 8 years old

Arts Underground, 66 East Main Street, Springville, NY

With Liz Bligh

In this dance class, students will explore the basics of various dance forms, including Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Each hour session will incorporate 45-50 minutes of instruction with 10-15 minutes of free dance at the end. Bring a water bottle to every class, wear clothing that is easy to move in, and shoes that have a flat / slippery sole or dance shoes (jazz shoes, ballet slippers).

Bligh started going to dance class when she was 3 years old. She continued all the way through high school, taking various classes including: ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, and ballroom. Her love for and interest in dance continued as she got older. While at SUNY Fredonia, she went on a study abroad trip to Ghana, West Africa, entitled Ghana: Cultural Rhythms. On this trip, she took daily drumming and dancing lessons. With her history in dance, she learned the routines quickly and with ease.

Looking forward to this new class, Bligh shares “It is amazing that people all over the world are dancing and enjoying the benefits of dance. Dance is great for socialization, exercise, flexibility and balance, memory, spatial awareness, and teamwork. I would encourage everyone to get up and Dance Now!”
