Morrell_WoodlandSprites_5x7_ob_sll_06-2016An assortment of work by local artist Bruce Morrell. As an avid birder and fisherman, the small details and intricacies found in the natural world have always been the inspiration for his work.  His recent focus on the art of trompe l’oeil has provided him a new way to combine his love of nature and its details into a narrative that he can express through his paintbrush.

Bruce studied art both at Villa Maria and Buffalo State. He was a juried exhibitor in three of the annual East Aurora Art Society art festivals.  Two of his paintings were awarded Best In Show. More recently, he had the privilege of studying under John Yerger at Partners In Art in North Tonawanda. His expert guidance and encouragement  ignited his passion for the trompe l’oeil genre. Several of his pieces were part of a group exhibit, Masters of Illusion, Take a Second Look, at Meibohm Gallery in East Aurora in 2017. His first opportunity to display my art at SCA was as part of the Scenic Byway exhibit in 2017, for which he painted a landscape of the Mill Road Overlook.
