Actors Readiness Workshop

Monday, October 5, 2020 - Monday, December 21, 2020 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

An Actors Readiness Workshop will be held during the months of September, October, and November rehearsing Death of a Salesman.  The goal of this workshop will be to keep enthusiastic actors engaged in theater during the Covid-19 downtime, a time when it may be impractical to present theater to our live SCA audience.

Auditions: 6:30pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, September 17 at the Mongerson Theater, 37 N. Buffalo Street, Springville
Casting decisions will be made by Saturday September 19th, and you will receive a call from the Director to advise you of your status of whether (or not) you are being offered a character role. If you are not offered a character role, then you will be offered other work such as an understudy position, technical duties, costuming, assistant Directorial duties, or Producer duties.  Everyone who attends the audition on September 17th will be offered a part in the “production”.  For those actors who wish to play the roles of the lead characters ( Willie, Linda, Happy, and Biff), at the discretion of the Director, each of these roles may be equally shared by two actors. All actors, including those who are in shared roles and understudies are expected to attend all 18 scheduled rehearsals. All actors, including understudies will be expected to have their lines memorized by November 2nd.

The rehearsals with be staged as a “Black Box Theater”, however, costuming will be integrated into the rehearsal phase by October 1st.     Rehearsals: Mondays and Thursdays from September 21st through November 19th, with the exception of October 15th, which will instead be held the day before (Wednesday October 14th).  Rehearsals will begin at 6:30pm and will be held at 37 N. Buffalo Street, Springville*.

Upon completion of the Death of a Salesman Actors Readiness workshop, you will be in prime fitness to participate in an actual performance of Death of a Salesman when the times allow, or you will be polished and ready to get engaged  in other acting pursuits which may occur once the Covid-19 threat has passed.

The Director for this free workshop will be Edwin F. Heary.
For questions, you may call the Director at (716)-725-9228 or call Springville Center for the Arts at (716)-592-9038.
