Artists of the Southtowns / Southern Tier: Works from the Gerald Mead Collection

This exhibition consists of over 50 artworks by many of WNY’s most notable historic and contemporary artists that have been selected from Mead’s extensive collection. All of the artists included are former or current residents of the Southtowns or neighboring Southern Tier.
The works represent a wide variety of mediums from artists such as Brendan Bannon, Marvin Bjurlin, Robert and Jeanette Blair, Bob Booth, Malcolm Bonney, Charles Clough, Max Collins, Sally Cook, Val Cushing, Thomas Aquinas Daly, Alexis Fournier, Timothy Frerichs, Tyrone Georgiou, John Gill, Larry Griffis, Donald Haug, Cletus Johnson, Thomas Kegler, Bruce and Justine Kurland, Dorothy Markert, Sara Baker Michalak, Harold Olmsted, Wes Olmsted, Joe Orffeo, Ken Payne, David Pratt, Alberto Rey, Agnes Robertson, Joseph Scheer, Al Volo and Sara Zak among others.
Gerald Mead is an award winning artist, educator, arts writer and independent curator who is a leading authority on Western New York art. He has assembled a collection of over 1,000 artworks by artists associated with this region by birth or residency. Thematic exhibitions from the Gerald Mead Collection have been presented at numerous public venues, and he has also lent works for major exhibitions at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Burchfield Penney Art Center, Castellani Art Museum, UB Art Galleries, CEPA and Hallwalls.
The Olmsted Gallery will be open Wednesday & Thursday 12-5pm, Friday 12-6pm and Saturdays 10-3.
Join us for an exclusive reception on Saturday, November 5 at 6:30pm. Mead will give a guided tour of the work on display. Refreshments and drinks will be served. Make an evening of it and attend the Ameranouche concert immediately following.
