Learn Musical Improv Comedy from the Co-Author of Laura Hall’s New Book

Thursday, August 25
7:00 to 9:00 PM

ATTN Actors and Improvisers who want to improve your performance bag of tricks. The Springville Center for the Arts presents a special workshop with Bob Baker, a veteran musician and improv comedy instructor/performer.

A prolific author of 13 books, Bob’s newest title, “The Improv Comedy Musician,” was co-written with Laura Hall, the longtime music director and pianist on the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

It’s great to create scenes, characters, relationships, and dialogue on the spot. Now you can take it to another level by adding music and singing too.

Bob will teach you the basics of melody, rhythm and rhyme – and how to incorporate them into an improv game or scene. No matter your previous improv or musical experience, he promises to make it easy and fun to make up lyrics on the spot.

In case you’re intimidated, Bob says, “Let me assure you, musical improv has nothing to do with being a ‘good singer.’ It isn’t a talent show. You don’t even have to sing. It’s all about learning to express yourself rhythmically. You can do this!”

Bob hails from St. Louis, MO, where he has a long history as a musician, singer, actor, visual artist, and improviser. He teaches and performs short-form improv and directs a monthly Improv Comedy Cabaret, a full two-hour improv show that features a lot of music.

Bob’s other books include “Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook,” “The Empowered Artist,” “55 Ways to Promote & Sell Your Book on the Internet,” “Unleash the Artist Within,” and more.

Come learn the art of musical improv on Thursday, August 25. Go ahead. Stretch yourself. It’ll be good for you!

To register email scaseth@gmail.com or call 716-592-9038. The cost will be $10 payable at the workshop.
