Learn the foundations of Eastern and Western style book binding in this introductory class. We will begin with a series of Japanese style stab bindings using both traditional and contemporary designs. In the second class we will explore the origins of the Western codex with variations on the long stitch binding and we will finish the series with the two most common contemporary sewing styles, French link stitch and Coptic sewing.
