Join us for this *free* information session on the 2020 DEC Arts Grant presented by Arts Services Initiative of WNY at Springville Center for the Arts. The workshop will be hosted by ASI’s DEC Grant Coordinator Natalie Brown, and will offer grant-writing tips and best practices to help you or your organization prepare and apply for these and other grants.
Grant information sessions are mandatory for new applicants, and optional but highly encouraged for everyone. Admission is open to the public, but you must RSVP at Eventbrite or call 833-3004 x512.
The DEC Arts Grant supports arts and cultural programming and the creation of artworks in Erie and Niagara Counties. This grant is administered by Arts Services Initiative of WNY and funded by the New York State Council on the Arts.
The DEC Arts Grant funds projects and artists in three categories:
1. COMMUNITY ARTS
A competitive grant that provides financial and technical assistance for community-based arts activities offered by eligible nonprofit organizations and/or individual artists with community partners in Erie and Niagara Counties.
**Requests can be made between $500 – $5,000.
2. ARTS EDUCATION
A competitive grant that provides financial and technical assistance to eligible organizations and/or individual artists to support arts education projects in K-12 public school and publicly funded charter school settings and after-school programs. Funds can support arts education projects that take place in-school during the school day and/or in after-school settings for youth.
**Requests can be made between $500 – $5,000.
3. INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS
Intended to support the creation of new work that engages the community through the artists’ creative process. Artists residing in Erie and Niagara Counties are eligible to apply for this grant for community-based projects. The goal of this grant is to support the creative work of individual artists in all disciplines while encouraging interaction between artists and community members to highlight the role of the artist as a community resource.
**Requests are a flat $2,500 commission.
NOTE: 2020 NEW YORK STATE COUNCIL ON THE ARTS DIRECT APPLICANTS AND THOSE WHO HAVE APPLIED FOR A 2020 REDC (REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL) NYSCA GRANT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THESE GRANTS.
