Dry Brush Watercolor
with John Merlino
Saturdays, April 21 & 28 and May 12 & 19 from 10am – noon, $60 / $52 Member
Exhibiting artist John Merlino will take the class through various phases of his dry brush watercolor technique and work with students on developing their own style. The method involves applying wash, a rough pencil sketch of the object for composition, and layering of the paint using the dry brush watercolor technique. Some painting experience helpful, but all levels welcome.
The process may involve sponging and splattering of paint, working with gradient nuances of color, and light and shadow to create a final composition.
Materials: Plate or palette for mixing paint, sponges, tube watercolors-assortment (ie. grumbacher, winsor-newton), assorted watercolor brushes, watercolor paper.
