Work by John Merlino

Class cancelled. We may reschedule for a future date. Please call 716.592.9038 or scatracym@gmail.com if you are interested in a future workshop offering.

Egg Tempera has been used since the Renaissance. Much of the religious panel painting done between the 12th and 15th century was done in this delicate and subtle medium, which is capable of detailed and complex effects. The paint holds it’s brush strokes, and does not change when dry.

This class will explore this medium to understand the gradual weaving and build-up of colors that adds dimension to one’s work. Students should bring 2-3 images to work from for subject matter, their own palettes and paint brushes. Paint and board provided.

This three-session workshop will meet:

  • Weds. August 11, 6-8:30pm
  • Sat. August 14, 2-4pm
  • Weds. August 18, 6-8:30pm

Cost: $85, $80 Members – Registration required
