Belle finds love and kindness where she least expects it, within a Beast.  Springville Center for the Arts presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. with performances on August 11 and 12 Belle, a young woman sick of her provincial life, journeys to an enchanted castle while looking for her father.  While rescuing him, Belle makes a deal with the Beast – he will set her father free and she must remain in the castle.  Learning of the unfortunate curse set upon the castle and all who reside there, there is little time for Belle to save the Beast before the last rose petal drops.

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is an adaptation of the story many are familiar with.  Beauty and the Beast features songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

This show will be the result of Springville Center for the Arts’ Musical Theater Workshop.  The workshop is the second of two happening this summer.  The actors and actresses are all entering grades three through eight, with direction and organization lead by the Center’s four summer interns.

These two performances are open to the public.  Admission is a pay-what-you-can donation and is first come, first serve.  Doors will open one half hour before showtime.  For questions or more information, please call Springville Center for the Arts at (716) 592-9038.
