Avenue Q

Thursday, July 26, 2012 - Sunday, August 5, 2012 8:00 pm

Springville Center for the Arts presents Avenue Q, opening Thursday, July 26 and running through August 5. Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is a laugh-out-loud musical with a heart-felt message. Students Loving Art and Music, or more commonly known as SLAM, is an informal group of high school and college students who perform the show. The cast is made up of human and puppet characters.
Princeton moves into a shabby apartment all the way out on Avenue Q and soon discovers that he is right at home with his colorful and diverse group of neighbors. Together, they struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever elusive purpose in life.
Originally conceived as a television series, creators Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx took a great deal of inspiration from Sesame Street. This is a modified version from what played on Broadway but it is still PG-13 for adult content and some language.
Tickets are on sale now at springvillearts.org or by calling 592-9038. Adults are $15 and Students and Seniors are $12. The first Thursday is “Pay What You Can With A Can.” Patrons may pay any amount with a nonperishable donation to a local food pantry. The show runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm until August 5.
