Steel Magnolias – Directed by Tom Durham
Six women bond and cope with the loss of one of their own at Truvy’s beauty salon in a small Louisiana town. This wonderful play is filled with hilarious repartee and funny verbal collisions, as these characters go about living and loving in their everyday activities.
The all female cast includes the following:
Truvy Jones — 40ish, outspoken, wise-cracking, owner of the beauty salon
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto — 19, naïve, finding herself, beauty salon assistant
Clairee Belcher — mid-60s, widow, acerbic, Grande Dame
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie — 25, sweet, friendly, the prettiest girl in town
M’Lynn Eatenton — 50ish, Shelby’s mother, socially prominent career woman
Quiser — Boudreaux — mid-60s, sarcastic, loveable, wealthy curmudgeon
Auditions will take place at the Mongerson Theater, 37 North Buffalo at 7 pm. Come prepared to read a small excerpt from the play, alone and with others. Callbacks will be March 22. All experience levels welcome.
Performance dates are May 11, 12, 13, 19, 20 at 8pm and Sundays, May 14 & 21 at 2pm.
