10/27 and 11/17 from 10am – noon

tatted earringsDuring this workshop, students will learn a brief overview of what tatting is and how it evolved over time, then learn the basic slip knot technique using shuttles (a modern form of tatting can be made on long needles, but this method will not be covered during this workshop). After students feel comfortable making the slip knot, they will learn how to form rings. Depending on time and how familiar students are with tatting, they may then learn how to make picots, a series of rings, joins between rings, and chains. Options are available for advanced techniques if desired. Both left-handed and right-handed instructions and demonstration will be provided. With Kaela Jacobs.

These are two separate sessions. Students can attend either or both depending on preference.

$20 per session, $5 lab fee is materials needed

Kaela Jacobs: Kaela learned how to make tatted lace when she was a teenager after finding a bag of tatting thread and shuttles at the Springville Auction. Resources on the internet inspired her to pursue this fun and unusual art and helped her connect with other tatters. She maintains a blog to showcase her work: www.straightlacedtatting.blogspot.com.
