Meet the artists featured in this
exhibition, and enjoy complimentary
refreshments as you browse the works
of our talented artists.
Zoar Valley captures the imagination
of everyone who visits. The canyons
formed long ago by glacial melt
have a timeless quality and natural
beauty that rivals the best locations
in Western New York. The artists and
their works in this show help to record
the story of a landscape of constant
change, adventure, and delight.
Works in this show feature views into
both the grand vistas and hidden
gems of Zoar Valley. Some of the
artists have captured the ancient
forest on the riverine terraces at the
bottom of the gorge, known as the
“Gallery of Giants,” allowing viewers
to appreciate the old-growth forest
that grows largely unmarred by
human impacts. Other works provide
a glimpse into the Alexander Preserve,
a private nature preserve owned and
stewarded by The Nature Sanctuary
Society of Western New York, and the
Deer Lick Conservation Area, a public
nature preserve established by The
Nature Conservancy.
We hope these works and the
programming related to the show
and outings in Zoar organized by
the Zoar Valley Coalition will help
viewers explore and experience both
the natural beauty and the art of Zoar
Valley. Most importantly, we hope
the show inspires you to draw, paint,
and write the next chapter of Zoar’s
dynamic and natural landscape of
change.
