Springville Center for the Arts is seeking work for “Petit Noel,” a combination art show and sale at Art’s Cafe.

A weekly evening of jazz standards from the 40’s to the present, selections from the Great American Songbook, and a touch of Latin too.

Bring a song you have written or are working on. Share with others. With the hopes of continuing to build a community of songwriters, Caleb Spaulding, Nick Kowalski, & Jon Hasz will host this monthly get-together. 

This drop-off creativity program for ages 2 through 5 takes the Reggio Emilia approach of “process over product.”  Kids explore open-ended arts activities at their own pace, with the guidance of instructors.

This basket has the added benefit of being a “recycled/repurposed” item!  It’s very useful and surprisingly strong and versatile.  It will flex without cracking and gets nicer with age.  A variety of papers are suitable for weaving but for this class we will be using standard paper grocery bags. In this workshop students will be encouraged to research their heritage and express their culture through clay. They will learn the science of pottery, hand building techniques and historical decorative applications to create their visual autobiography. With Cassondra Argeros.

Come listen to American string-band group Vandalia at Art’s Cafe! Featuring Dakota Karper on fiddle, Ellen Gira on cello, and Gabriel Furtado on guitar.

Join Janet Vedder to learn an Indonesian fabric dyeing technique called batik. To make a batik, selected areas of the design are blocked out by applying hot wax over them, a dye is applied on top, and the parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original colour. Students will create a few fabric pieces that they can use in a future project.

Learn how to create an 8-page zine from a single piece of paper, how to use bookbinding tools, and how to turn your ideas into a real book! With Laura Chenault.

Jump start your painting with personalized tips from Buffalo Society of Artists exhibiting member Charles Houseman. Select from watercolor or acrylic to create a still life based on an autumnal scene. Stick around after the class for an informal coffee critique with Charlie in the Cafe. 

Students will explore symmetry in our environment. Creating art together using found objects or nature – they will learn breathing techniques and make mandalas. With Kristin Brandt.
