The Art of Zoar Valley III will be on display at the Olmsted Gallery this summer. The call for work deadline is April 18th.

This drop-off creativity program for ages 2 through 5 takes the Reggio Emilia approach of “process over product.”  Kids explore open-ended arts activities at their own pace, with the guidance of instructors. Painting, sculpture, loose parts, clay, puppet shows, instruments and more. The program will also include guest artists and walking field trips.

Jon Horton will have a self titled gallery exhibit at Art’s Cafe from February 5th-March 15th. A reception will be held at the cafe February 5th from 5:45 to 7pm.

Learn about female artists throughout history, women as represented in art, the intersection of women as both Muse and Master, and the modern context of feminism in art. Speakers include: Ellen Owens, Adjunct Professor at Niagara University and Director of Castellani Museum;  Heather Gring, Archivist of Rare Books at Buffalo + Erie Co Public Library, artist’s model; Biljana Petreska, Roycroft Artisan in Photography, artist specializing in alternative photography and female identity centered self-portraiture; and Tami Fuller, Executive Director for the Roycrofters-at-Large Association, weaver and fiber artist using traditional women’s textile work as a medium to explore the female experience.

Learn to sculpt with wool. In this beginners 3D needle felt class students will use a special felting needle and superfine wool to sculpt a handheld March Hare as a perfect introduction to needle felting figures and a celebration of Spring. With Tami Fuller.

Have you ever planted seeds and had nothing sprout? Many perennial and native seeds require special treatment to germinate. In this beginner-friendly class, Sarah Sorci of Sweet Flag Herbs will spotlight her favorite culinary and medicinal native herbs for the garden.

This interactive workshop will guide participants through a warm-up routine addressing proper posture, breathing, intonation, vowels, resonance, and character that can be used daily to improve and sustain good vocal health. Beginner to intermediate level. Hosted by Leah Wietig.

The exhibit Where’d You Take That? by David Lawrence Reade will be displayed at Art’s Cafe from March 19th-April 26th. A reception will be held on March 27th at the cafe from 6:30-8pm.

Bring a song you have written or are working on. Share with others. With the hopes of continuing to build a community of songwriters, Caleb Spaulding and Jon Hasz will host this monthly get-together. The group will meet in the basement workshop in January, February, and March.See the progress as they share their work in the dining space on April 17th. 

The short play series “Get in the Car” is making its way from Buffalo to SCA. Directed by Matt Boyle and written by local talents in Buffalo, this suite of plays is a great opportunity for actors of all experience levels. Stay tuned for audition info.

This session will dive into “I Can,” the Solar Plexus Chakra, which governs our personality, ego, personal power, authority and authenticity. You will explore this center and tie in the concept of vitality, strength, discipline and enlightenment with a color meditation in yellow using gouache and sumi ink.
