Batik at The Olmsted Camp

Join fiber artist Mary Ann Fritz to learn an Indonesian fabric dyeing technique called batik. To make a batik, selected areas of the design are blocked out by applying hot wax over them, a dye is applied on top, and the parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original colour. Students will use hot wax and acrylic paint to create a few fabric pieces to be used in a future project.
