DARLING FAMILY DAY: TREE PLANTING CEREMONY
August 16th | Location TBD | 11am-noon | Free
We’ll wrap up the Summer-long series in Zoar Valley by honoring the Darling Family with a tree planting ceremony in grateful recognition for the many land gifts to the public by Herbert Sr. & Bertha Darling, Herbert Jr. and Jane Darling, and the Darling Family. Their land gifts extend beyond the Zoar public land and helped form nature preserves in Zoar established by the The Nature Conservancy and The Nature Sanctuary Society of Western New York. Herbert Darling, Jr. and the Darling Family have also played a major role in the conservation work being done to restore the American Chestnut tree to Eastern forests, including their work at the William White American Chestnut Plantation in Zoar Valley.
