Looking back at his body of work, Buffalo artist Karle Norman sees a uniting throughline—even if it is not always apparent to the viewer. He said, “It’s not as though you start with one group of work that becomes a series to its completion only to begin another group. They blend together or merge, shifting into something else.” Despite the medium—murals, painting, leatherwork, ceramics, drawing—his pieces all stem from the same themes. With this exhibition, he aims to turn this invisible uniting element visible. He wants to show how all the layers of his work run parallel and then become one, or go away for a while to come back clearer.
