Children’s Theater Summer Internship / Residency

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 - Monday, April 30, 2018 All Day

DSC01824Children’s Theater Interns at Springville Center for the Arts (SCA) participate in a summer-long residency. Activities include acting, teaching, and managing theater productions.

“I guess I’m emailing just to tell you how beneficial last summer was for me – being a ‘tern was a humbling and fun experience that has really set me on track for my college career. Teaching improv helped me hone my skills, and our sometmes rigorous work schedule definitely instilled a discipline in me that I’ve noticed my peers are often lacking.” – Grant 2016

“I am definitely a different person after this internship. Thank you so much for all of your help and mentoring every step of the way. It was an absolute pleasure to work at SCA everyday with the staff, my fellow interns and all of the kids in the workshops.” – Julie 2017

Participants will:

  • Fill all on and off stage roles to produce a touring theater program for elementary age children.
  • Teach/direct a variety of workshops including musical theater for grades 4-8, playwriting, creative movement, and more. Class topics are based on the skill set of the applicants.
  • Produce/direct a larger scale musical production with local high school and college students.

The program begins immediately after the Spring semester and ends mid-August (13 weeks).

Springville Center for the Arts is a growing multi-arts center located in a rural community in Western New York State. An apartment shared with other interns and a stipend of $150 per week is provided.
