Paper Bag Basket

My Culture, My Clay

Batik Dyeing

Join Janet Vedder to learn an Indonesian fabric dyeing technique called batik. To make a batik, selected areas of the design are blocked out by applying hot wax over them, a dye is applied on top, and the parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original colour. Students will create a few fabric pieces that they can use in a future project.
